Attorney Berson was president of the Family Planning Council of Western Massachusetts from 1974 to 1998. From 1998 to 2001, he was the Chair of Tapestry Health Systems, Inc. He was the Chair of the Greenfield Charter Commission from 1982 to 1984 and then again from 2000 to 2002. In 1998, Attorney Berson was awarded the Community Service Award by the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association and the Margaret Sanger Award of the Family Planning Counsel of Western Massachusetts. Attorney Berson was awarded the Massachusetts Bar Association Community Service Award in 2002. He received the Pro Bono Publico Award of the Massachusetts Bar Association for Distinguished Service to the Profession. In 2005, the Supreme Judicial Court awarded Attorney Berson the John and John Quincy Adams Pro Bono Publico Award.
Military Service
Attorney Berson served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1968-1974.
