The Norton & Christensen law firm was founded in 1973 in Goshen, New York, by the late Stanley J. Norton (1916-1998) and Henry N. Christensen, Jr. Since 1973, the firm's major concentration has been in contract matters relating to the construction industry. The firm counsels and represents heavy and highway construction and building contractors and subcontractors, suppliers of equipment and materials, architects, engineers and project owners throughout the States of New Jersey and New York as well as federal government contractors in other parts of the United States. The firm has prosecuted and defended numerous bid protests; claims arising out of contract changes, differing site conditions, design failures, delays and contract terminations; lien and trust fund claims; payment bond claims; builder's risk insurance claims, labor claims and breach of contract claims.
In addition to its regional practice in construction matters, Norton & Christensen counsels and represents clients in Orange County, New York, and adjoining counties in real estate and land use matters, business ventures, commercial litigation, and probate and estate planning matters. The firm is general counsel to one Orange County municipality, including its Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals, and has represented several other units of local government with respect to individual contract, infrastructure and development matters.
