We hired Mr. Johnson to address problems we have with a commercial landlord. We had a first telephonic conversation on 9/21/18 and he proposed to meet for an initial free consultation on 9/27/18. During that initial consultation, he proposed to file suit for constructive trust or quantum meruit against landlord and start with a notice to withhold rent until repairs are done. He asked us to sign a retainer agreement and requested a deposit of $2,600 promising to file suit within a week or so.
Got the retainer money & became unresponsive. Once fired, he started to threaten to charge more!!! A review of his retainer gives a good indication of what to expect from him as it states "Also note that although it is understandable to be frustrated by delays it is not acceptable to" "contact the attorney repeatedly, or especially to come to the attorney's office without an appointment. Such behavior will result in me terminating your representation. No refund."
