I hired Rosanne De Torres in May 2023. I immediately informed her that my husband of 28 years had left and was withholding spousal support for the past 7 months. He had changed passwords on all accounts, cutting me off completely. I had to charge the $7500 retainer to my credit card. The next few months entailed the usual gathering of information. By 9/ 2023, seeing that I still had not received spousal support & that the fees continued to increase thanks to a battle she had embarked on with the opposing attorney over the CIS, I requested she file a Pendente lite. Finally on 10/23 the court ordered spousal support! But not before both lawyers, finally in agreement, demanded money be taken from the joint account for their fees. On November 29, a week before 1st mediation, De Torres flew off the handle and fired herself claiming she could not work with me after I questioned her strategy. Her information gathering cost me $23k.
Client beware-Puts herself before her client. Erin DeGeorge performed sloppy work on my divorce case. She had to re-draft an important document due to numerous errors. I then felt I had to review everything to make sure she didn't make more errors. She did not provide me an important email from the adversary that specifically requested I be consulted. When I discovered this several weeks later, she blamed her paralegal even though she herself charged me to review the email. She subsequently did not take responsibility in response to opposing counsel about it, which made it appear that I was not cooperating in a timely matter. She would wait until the last minute to advise me I needed to provide information and documents by a short deadline, but tell me not to worry, she could request an extension, which of course would delay and cost me more money. There is only room for 1000 characters but had to fire her for incompetence after spending $20000 to accomplish little.
