Under the law, once a will has gone through probate and executor is appointed, should this be sufficient to access bank accounts?

Answered by attorney Bernard H. Greenberg
Estate Planning lawyer at Kokish & Goldmanis, P.C.
It is common for institutions to request a copy of the Death Certificate. It is acceptable for you to provide the bank with a copy.

Is an un-notarized will valid?

Answered by attorney Donald Keith Broad (Unclaimed Profile)
Estate Planning lawyer at Broad Law Firm, LLC
Every state has different rules on how wills are to be properly authenticated. For instance, in Indiana, a will does not need to be notarized at all, but must be witnessed by two disinterested persons in the presence of each other at the time that the will is signed. However, your state may have different rules. You should consult with an estate planning attorney in the state in which the will was executed to be certain.

After termination of parental rights, is the child entitled to inheritance if that parent dies without a will?

Estate Planning lawyer at Neil J. Lehto
No, a child whose parent has terminated parental rights inherits nothing under Michigan's intestate estate law. She would, of course, inherit from her adoptive father.
