After termination of parental rights, is the child entitled to inheritance if that parent dies without a will?

Answered by attorney Victor L. Waid (Unclaimed Profile)
Estate Planning lawyer at Law Office of Victor Waid
The right of inheritance by the blood child is cut off by the giving up parental rights and by the subsequent adoption by the new husband of the wife, unless you include her in a will or trust as a specific beneficiary.

Which is better to do, a living trust or a last will?

Answered by attorney Christine Sabio Socrates (Unclaimed Profile)
Estate Planning lawyer at Christine Sabio Socrates Attorney at Law
A good estate plan would involve both a living trust and a will as well as possible other possibilities to make sure that your wishes for each other are fulfilled. A consultation with a competent estate planning attorney would be recommended. I would be happy to assist you if you would like. Good luck!

Am I responsible for the bills that belonged to my deceased mother?

Answered by attorney Dara J. Goldsmith
Estate Planning lawyer at Goldsmith & Guymon, P.C.
If you signed as a responsible person on her accounts then you could be. If you received assets from her you could be responsible up to the value of the assets that you recently received. If the answer to both of those questions is "no," the you cannot be held responsible. If you answered "yes" to either or both, you should seek legal counsel.
