You can hire an attorney and other professionals to assist you in settling the estate and to answer all your questions. Your local bar association may have information on your duties and responsibilities. Or you can read your state's statutes on estate procedures.

This depends entirely upon the laws of the state they live in. Many states impose liability for medical debt upon the spouse. Some states impose the liability upon children as well. So it depends upon their state's laws.

Can I find out about my father's will if I don't have a copy?

Answered by attorney James Bloomfield Oberholtzer
Estate Planning lawyer at James Oberholtzer, Chartered
In almost every state, it is the law that a person with possession of a Will must file it with the local county court (where the decedent lived at the time of death) within 30 days of death. Check with the local court and if there is no will.
