Is there emergency power of attorney if the person is in a coma?

Answered by attorney James E. Reed
Estate Planning lawyer at Vandervoort, Christ & Fisher, P.C.
There is no emergency power of attorney. You should be aware that any power of attorney for your mother will end upon her death, so, unfortunately, it doesn't sound like a power of attorney will be of much practical use to you.

The POA died when your father died. You can file a petition into the probate court to partition the property by compelling a sale of the property and a division of the proceeds or the objecting family can buy your interest out at the forced sale or by contract to purchase.
