Should I transfer title to my kids now or leave things as is?

Answered by attorney Brian Haggerty (Unclaimed Profile)
Estate Planning lawyer at Minor, Bandonis & Haggerty P.C.
Assuming the kids are going to want to sell it, it will almost be easier to leave things as is. They will be able to use a Small Estate Affidavit to transfer it; this will avoid transfer costs now plus more when they sell.

How long do you have to be married before she is entitled to my estate?

Answered by attorney Edward L. Armstrong (Unclaimed Profile)
Estate Planning lawyer at Edward L. Armstrong, P.C.
She would be entitled to a portion of his estate, in other words, he cannot disinherit her. The amount is really up to him and if she doesn't like what he leaves her she may file an election to take against the will. She needs to seek legal consul as the amount could vary depending on the estate assets and how they are titled (e.g., joint, in trust, in husband's name alone).

What do I need to do if I have been contacted by a legal representative from another country regarding an inheritance?

Answered by attorney James P Frederick (Unclaimed Profile)
Estate Planning lawyer at Frederick & Frederick Attorneys at Law
I would have a lawyer review this. Unless you are familiar with all of the facts of the situation and know it to be legitimate, I would assume that this is a hoax, until you can document and verify everything. This is one of the more popular scams, at the moment. There are procedures that are followed in legitimate cases, and your attorney will be able to help you identify those.
