I am writing this to warn others before they make the same $5,000 mistake I did. My experience with Jodi Ann Donato was a nightmare of negligence, incompetence, and improper billing. I paid a $5,000 retainer, yet the firm only "represented" me for one conference. Ms. Donato didn't attend; she sent an unprepared substitute lawyer whom I was billed for, plus I was billed for time supposedly spent preparing that person. The lack of diligence was shocking. They didn't know my case was in Dutchess (not Suffolk) until I corrected them, and I was billed for the time it took to fix their own error. Ms. Donato admitted she missed crucial details on the Order of Protection, including that child support was granted. My retainer was quickly drained paying for their mistakes. Most alarmingly, after I posted this review, Ms. Donato offered me $500 and an NDA via email to take it down. This is highly unethical behavior for an attorney and speaks volumes about her professional conduct.
