With the right help you can negotiate it to some non DUI offense. You still have to fight the dmv or they will suspend your license. Because a public defender can't help you at the DMV you should get a lawyer.

Can I request for my probation to be amended and be shortened to 6 months?

Jared Clayton Austin
Answered by attorney Jared Clayton Austin (Unclaimed Profile)
DUI/DWI lawyer at Austin Legal Services, PLC
You can request it but that doesn't mean it will happen. The worst that will happen is they say no. The court doesn't care about the inconvenience the probation requirements cause as probation is a form of grace- a way to avoid jail. In their eyes, you drove drunk and put innocent people's lives at risk so they don't care about any inconvenience probation causes you. You can always file for a modification of your probation terms. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself you should retain a lawyer.

What can I do about my DUI charge since if convicted I could lose my nursing license?

Answered by attorney Nathaniel D Shafer
DUI/DWI lawyer at Natty Shafer Law
It sounds like you have a good case to fight the charge. If you passed the field sobriety tests, a jury may believe you were not drunk. It also helps that the breathalyzer said you were right at the legal limit. Hire an attorney to help you fight it, and, yes, it may be possible to take a plea for a reduced charge.
