How do you appeal a sentence?

Once he was sentenced by the judge, he should have been handed what is called Appellate Rights form explaining his options to appeal and how to appeal. If he is that indigent, he would be entitled to an appellate attorney at public expense. Otherwise, you would just have to hire a lawyer for him. I would do it as soon as possible because there are deadlines to file and if he files soon enough, his jail sentence may be suspended pending the outcome of his appeal.

Can I get my DUI reduced to a wet and reckless?

You cannot get a wet reckless if you have already plead guilty. Your blood alcohol was obviously just on the boarder of the presumption, .08%. If you have not appeared you need to get an attorney to handle your case. The DA may argue you fell asleep because of the effects of the alcohol and that you were not operating with normal care or they may also argue the .08% charge which has the same penalties.
