Depends on the jurisdiction. So rather than worry about the alcoholism, you are worried about the felony.

Can I get charged with DUI if my car isn't even turned on?

If the car is not running, it's not operating. I've done many drunk drivings similar to yours and the issue is whether the car is running. You were smart to not turn your car on.

How will a reckless driving conviction effect my employment?

Hudson Thomas Bair
Answered by attorney Hudson Thomas Bair (Unclaimed Profile)
DUI/DWI lawyer at Kapsack & Bair, LLP
A wet reckless is not "far less severe" even when it it's accompanied by a win at the DMV. That being said, it can be an advantageous outcome in many jurisdictions. It is a misdemeanor, criminal conviction and therefore must be admitted if an employer asks. We are seeing a growing number of employers ask about "criminal" convictions. Make sure you don't want to push your case to trial before you take the deal.
