Bobby Joe Hornsby received his Bachelor of Science degree from Troy State University in 1980 and his law degree from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 1986. He is a member of the Alabama State Bar and is admitted to practice in all Alabama state and Federal courts and in addition, the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Mr. Hornsby practices primarily in the areas of insurance and corporate defense with years of experience in cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, construction deficiencies, contract disputes, products liability and claims of fraud and bad faith. He has recently handled complex litigation cases in the states of Texas and Tennessee involving the construction of monolithic domes.
Mr. Hornsby worked full time throughout undergraduate and graduate school. He began his law career in 1986 as a law clerk with Buntin & Cobb, in Dothan, Alabama. He then went on to join Buntin & Cobb after graduation from law school and admission to the Bar in 1987. He immediately began trying civil cases before juries in both the state and federal courts of Alabama. From 1987-1995 Mr. Hornsby tried numerous cases involving insurance coverage disputes, premises liability, fraud, automobile accidents, contract disputes and products liability, with a success rate of above ninety percent. He has also handled appeals in the Alabama Supreme Court and the Alabama federal courts.
Mr. Hornsby grew up working in a family wholesale tire business and returned to that business in 1995 because of his father’s illness. He worked with the business until its sale in 2009 and thereafter, joined Shealy, Crum and Pike to continue practicing law. Mr. Hornsby’s vast business experience provides him a unique and valuable perspective in the practice of law and representing his clients.
