I am going through a divorce I am the father and I have my two boys, what would happen if I backed out of the divorce?

Answered by attorney Joseph A Marra
Divorce lawyer at The Law Offices of Joseph A. Marra, PLLC
If you "walk away" in all likelihood a default judgment will be entered against you. That would be same as if you went to trial and you lost on every issue. It is usually not a good idea to walk away.

Can my divorce be finalized without his signature?

Bruce Provda
Answered by attorney Bruce Provda (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Provda Law Firm
This is the point where you might want to speak to an attorney. Your ex does not have to agree to a divorce to have it happen in NY and if he is going through this denying of signature you need to take another route.

Does a lawyer bare the responsibility to explain how involved some things will be before honoring their clients request?

Paul L. Whitfield
Answered by attorney Paul L. Whitfield (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Paul Whitfield and Associates P.A.
Don't get a lawyer heavily involved in your matter and then try to stiff him. Sounds like the matter wasn't worth dealing with to start with. A lawyer bills for his time. if you don't want to deal with it, don't start.
