I'm going through a divorce and we've been separated for over a year will I lose my half of the property because I left?

Get an attorney. No such thing as abandonment for leaving an abusive husband. You have a house to lose and maybe other rights so seek legal help.

What will happen if am getting a divorce after 17 years due to spouse committing adultery and a child resulted from it?

Combined retirement gets equally divided (if all earned during marriage). Then funds go from one 401K to the other to equalize. You will need a QDRO to divide it. California does not require child support. Your spousal support in California should not end in 5 years - it could go on for a lot longer so don't take that deal. No one cares about the adultery unfortunately except you and probably your kids. Both of you should be working full time.

Can the garron rule be used to get my husband back into teaching and reduce my support payments?

I am not familiar with a "Garron rule". I presume you mean a Gavron warning, which states that each party is to become self supporting within a reasonable period of time and failure to do so can be taken into consideration in a motion to modify or terminate support. Gavron warnings generally apply to permanent support orders. If you want the court to consider your ex's ability to earn, then perhaps you should be requesting a vocational examination. They aren't cheap, but it may be worth it. No one can be forced to work, however they can be imputed with income based upon their ability to work.
