Did your husband obtain the stocks before marriage or did he purchase them with separate property funds? That might be a reason they were not divided in the divorce.

Before you sign the paperwork, it is a good idea to have a legal professional review the documents and advise you of your options and the impact signing the papers may have on you. Without understanding what you're signing, you should not sign the papers! A consultation fee with an attorney will be well worth it for your peace of mind. Otherwise, don't sign the papers, and allow him to proceed with the divorce without your input.

The question is not whether he can do it; the question is what you should do in response. Call some local lawyers, tell them your situation and see if one won't take your case and try to get your husband ordered to pay him or her, or if that doesn't happen get paid from your eventual property settlement. If you can't get help that way, try legal aid.
