Hello, this sounds like a terrible situation. I wish I could give you more specific advise, but I’m not sure if you have a specific question about something. If you have been served with a complaint for divorce, you need to retain an attorney ASAP.

How do I get a divorce from someone who has been deported?

Answered by attorney Jeffrey Wittenbrink
Divorce lawyer at Wittenbrink Law Firm
The court where you are domiciled will still have jurisdiction over your status. You may file for divorce in Louisiana and have an attorney ad hoc appointed to represent your spouse's interest by trying to get notice to them wherever they are now located. While you can obtain a divorce, jurisdiction for support and other matters incidental to the divorce may be more difficult.

Divorce

Richard Scott Diamond
Answered by attorney Richard Scott Diamond (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Diamond & Diamond, P.A.
Every divorce is different and simply because parties may have more money or more assets does not mean that their divorce will cost them more - it has to do with the issues outstanding and the degree of disagreement between the parties as to how to resolve those issues. Family Law specialists work on an hourly basis for their services and the cost of the divorce is dependent on how many hours are involved with trying to resolve the issues outstanding and whether an agreement can be worked out or whether litigation is needed to resolve those issues. If litigation is needed, then the costs will be significantly greater. If the issues are relatively simple and straight forward and you and your partner are in agreement as to how to resolve those issues, then the role of the lawyer is simply to flesh out the terms into a formal document, the cost is dramatically less. My suggestion is to sit with your partner and try to discuss the issues outstanding and see if you and he are close on how to address the issues. Or meet with a family law attorney to get a better understanding of what is a fair resolution of the issues outstanding and then talk with your spouse about the terms.
