One day. You must live in the state 6 months and the county 3 months. If marriage so short will the other party agree, if so the easiest is a summary dissolution.

The Michigan Court Rules allow alternate service by publication in the County newspaper. This requires a separate Order for Alternate Service signed by the Circuit Court Judge. Once you satisfy the publication Order, the you have jurisdiction over the Defendant, and you can get a default judgment of divorce.

If my husband and I have been separated for 6 years but not yet divorced, is that considered a long term marriage?

If you separated 6 years ago and that's the date of separation in the paperwork and you never got back together, the length of spousal support would probably not change. If you got back together then the length could change. See an attorney to discuss the details.
