It's suprising that your lawyer isn't writing the letter. In any event the method for such notices is usually spelled out in the settlement agreement.

That's right if you are on the deed he cannot sell the house without your signature, neither can you.

The question is confused. If the court ordered someone to pay the attorney would seek a judgment against that person. And if the court ordered it, presumptively the amount is not excessive.
