How long does a divorce case usually take?

Answered by attorney Vanessa J. Gorden
Divorce lawyer at GordenLaw, LLC
Every case is different. Nebraska has a mandatory waiting period of 60 days from the date the Defendant is served with the Complaint or the voluntary appearance is filed. Even if the parties agree on everything, the fastest divorce in our state is 61 days. Some divorces can take a year or two if the issues are more complicated - property out of state, custody battles, the need for appraisals, etc. can extend the time. The communication of each party and his or her attorney and the attorneys' communication with each other are also factors.? Once you are divorced, under Nebraska law, you cannot marry anyone else anywhere in the world for six months after the date of your Decree.

What are my rights over a house that was bought while we are married?

Richard B. Jacobson
Answered by attorney Richard B. Jacobson (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Richard B. Jacobson Associates, LLC
On these facts, the house is almost certainly marital property, meaning that you have a 50% undivided interest in it. It may or may not have substantial equity. If it does not, then your interest may not be worth much. Separation, whether true or false, has nothing to do with it., unless you have a written separation agreement, preferably with a Court Order adopting it, which is made known to the creditor. I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Yes, it's included in ordinary medical expenses, you have already paid your portion of that dental bill (unless there is something that says dental is handled differently in your judgment of divorce.
