The lease is a separate contract that he's responsible for but you may need to get the court to order him to pay it. Talk to your landlord about taking over the lease by yourself. Talk to an attorney about whether you can get support. If you do you would likely have to pay the rent by yourself .

Have him served with the the papers by a process server (e.g., deputy sheriff) and file proof of service with the Court. You can claim in Judgment of Divorce value of lost property as money he owes you.
