If the respondent is in default for not coming to the initial divorce hearing, do they have to show up for any further hearings?

Anthony O. Van Johnson
Answered by attorney Anthony O. Van Johnson (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Anthony Overton Van Johnson Associates, P.C.
The default occurs if the Defendant fails to file an Answer in response to the pleadings filed by the Plaintiff. Unless ordered by the court, the Defendant may fail to appear, if he or she so chooses. The court will then render judgment based on the evidence presented at court.

Can she ask for 50% of my military retirement?

Answered by attorney John E. Kirchner (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at John E. Kirchner
She can "ask" for anything but in most states she will only be entitled to up to 50% of the portion actually earned during the marriage - not 50% of the total unless you were married for 100% of your military service.

How to get an custody agreement going

Answered by attorney Cindy S. Vova
Divorce lawyer at Law Offices of Cindy S. Vova, P.A.
You have an unfortunate situation, where your ex is more concerned about getting back at you than the well being of your daughter.  How sad.  However, I suspect that your divorce included a parenting plan, and within the parenting plan, a timesharing agreement.   You can file a motion to enforce the time sharing agreement or, alternatively a motion for contempt against your ex for failing to comply with the Court's order (assuming that is true, since I've not seen your divorce papers and final judgment).  Keep track of your efforts to comply with the agreement and your ex's actions prohibiting you from doing same.  You can request make up time, fees for her contempt and, if she keeps it up, even more time sharing, potentially. Good luck, and I hope your ex grows up before your daughter. Cindy Vova Law Offices of Cindy S. Vova, P.A. 8551 West Sunrise Blvd., Suite 301 Plantation, FL 33322 info@vovalaw.com 954-316-3496
