Who is responsible for debt of a second mortgage, when my ex granted me no liablility in our divorce agreement.

Answered by attorney Thomas Weiss
Divorce lawyer at Vishnick McGovern Milizio LLP
If your divorce agreement required her to be fully responsible for a second mortgage that had your name on it, but then filed for bankruptcy, he/she is required to indemnify you as a result of any judgment.  You may need to bring a motion in order to enforce the terms of the divorce agreement.    Please contact me if you would like to have a further discussion.

What are the next steps in the divorce process after I answer the complaint?

If you disagree you have two options. 1. Return to New York to deal with the issues. 2. Hire an attorney to do it with you. Hiring an attorney is the better idea. For a start, your sending a document to the court was the wrong way to answer.

You need to file a summons and complaint and seek to have him served. If you can not find him after a diligent search the court may, on motion, offer alternative service.
