Is the divorce finalized?  The lawyer needs to get the QDRO done.  If the lawyer was supposed to do it, and did not, then the lawyer did not do the job you paid for and you have a right to go back and get it fixed.  The QDRO should have divided the retirement benefits and you are entitled to a portion of that.

Can I get divorced in 2 weeks in New Jersey ?? Have to get married in 2 weeks so my boyfriend doesn't get deported

Answered by attorney Diana L. Anderson
Divorce lawyer at Diana L. Anderson
You cannot get divorced in two weeks.  The law requires that the complaint be served, and that the person you are divorcing be given time to answer, and then it has to be scheduled for a hearing.  There is no way to accomplish that in two weeks.

Can my ex husband get alimony?

Answered by attorney Diana L. Anderson
Divorce lawyer at Diana L. Anderson
You really can't waive child support and you actually did not but you might have signed something that indicated if you applied to the court for an increase or for child support he had the right to apply for alimony.  Based on the length of your marriage and the salaries, he may not be entitled to alimony.  Even if he is, it would be for a very limited time.  The potential child support would outweigh the risk of alimony.
