About Ms. Jeri Delgado

There is a story inside every appellate case that is the other side of the story told to the jury at trial. It is not the story of what happened outside the courtroom, but rather what happened from within the courtroom. Whether it is a misunderstood law, an illegal sentence, rogue prosecutor, or otherwise unfair penalty resulting from an unfair trial—it becomes the story of the wrongfully convicted. That’s the story Jeri loves to find, and the story she seeks to tell because it is those who have already been convicted who need help the most.

Daytona Beach Criminal Appeals Attorney

Jeri Delgado exclusively practices criminal appeals. To understand why she is passionate about appeals stems from her love of stories. There is a story inside every appellate case that is the other side of the story told to the jury at trial. It is not the story of what happened outside the courtroom, but rather what happened from within the courtroom. Mistakes occur regularly at trial; there is no guarantee of a perfect trial, but all clients deserve a fair one. That does not always happen.

Community Involvement

Jeri is a Daytona Beach native who is active in the community where she grew up. She has coached a number of youth soccer teams and is a member of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Foundation. She is the current chair of the Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee, past president of the Volusia Flagler Association for Women Lawyers, member of the appellate section of the Florida Bar, and is a life member of the Florida Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Background & Education

While attending Rollins College, Jeri received a scholarship to play for the women’s soccer team. What she didn’t know then was that the lessons she learned from the soccer field would prepare her for her career as a criminal appellate attorney. It was the lessons in persistence, competition, and composure under pressure only learned through high level competitive sport that became invaluable to Jeri’s practice as a criminal appellate attorney.

After graduating from Stetson College of Law, Jeri began her legal career with Snell Legal. There she worked closely with Greg Snell, a prominent business litigation attorney. It was only later through the advice of her husband, that she began her career with the public defender’s office and realized her passion for criminal appeals.

Jeri worked three years in the appellate division for the Public Defender’s Office of the Seventh Judicial Circuit. There she represented indigent clients pursuing appeals from felony convictions and post-conviction motions. During that time, Jeri addressed legal issues of all kinds—from challenging novel issues of law to challenging seemingly-indiscreet scoresheet typos that led to meaningful relief for her clients.

Outside of the office, Jeri enjoys playing tennis, photography, and spending time with Aaron and their son. She is the co-founder of Daytona Beach Mom, an aspirational online magazine committed to bringing refreshing stories of motherhood.
