Welcome. My name is Eric D. Puryear, and I am an Attorney at Law who is licensed in the states of Illinois and Iowa.

My philosophy

I founded Puryear Law. P.C. to provide clients with professional, prompt, and diligent legal services. I firmly believe that the role of an attorney is to help his clients with the many legal issues that each of us faces in the modern world, and to do so in a way that builds trust and confidence. Towards that end, I pride myself on taking as much time as is needed to meet with my clients - face to face. Along the same lines, I ensure that phone calls and emails to my office are promptly returned, and that clients are not left waiting for the legal services that I know they need. In sum, I don't consider my job done until my client's needs have been fully met.

As a person with extensive computer and technology experience (including a degree in Computer Science), I know that using the right technology is essential in today's world. That is why I make use of the latest technology in my law practice. I have found that making maximum use of secure, encrypted computer and communication technology has enabled me to reduce costs and improve the quality of my legal services. The net result is lower legal fees for my clients, better service for my clients, and fewer environmental resources consumed by needless printing/copying.

Hired multiple times great at what he does like watching Mike Tyson in the ring made a a complete fool of the ada. Got sheriff Kyle Kunkle to purged himself. Won 1 case other got dismissed

Retained services and was billed for literally 2 communications via webmail and no other action taken. Requested retainer refunded as my case was in limbo and although he returned it he doubled my retainer when I needed services again and was extremely condescending and rude in the process

As a person who never had to hire a lawyer before, I had completely no idea of how the system works when trying to get custody. Mr. Puryear is very knowledgeable, however he has absolutely NO people skills or communication skills. He was impatient and downright rude with answers to my questions, and treated me like I was an idiot. I feel like I completely wasted my money but nothing was accomplished. I would not recommend him to someone going through an emotional case like child custody.

I would not recommend him. This is for restoration of rights. It isn't going to court. I understand that not all cases are the same, some may take more time. When I finally got him to state an average max price, I hired him. When we got close to that price I asked questions. The response I got back was that it will cost more if I keep asking questions. Read the reviews, this is not the lawyer you want.

Go to this guy only as a last resort. More interested in collecting a fee than providing quality legal services. Arrogant. Condescending. Any other attorney would be preferable and likely more competent.

DO NOT HIRE THIS LAWYER. Absolutely horrible lawyer. I hired him about 4 years ago and was completely appalled with his worth ethic. He doesn’t respond for days at a time and then when he does he charges you an insane amount of money. He is only interested in dragging out the case as long as possible to keep getting paid. He passes off all of his work to the other attorneys in his firm and I was made to do all of the work myself while paying for it. I am in need of a lawyer and thought that maybe my past experiences were due to the type of case, after looking at the reviews I can see that it’s just him as a person. He even insulted me at one point. I lost the case and my husband walked away with everything on a technical

When I first met with this attorney, he seemed very worthwhile. Now that I'm over $3000 and 1 year into a CIVIL and AGREED UPON divorce, I have completely changed my mind. I have been billed for every little thing, and am honestly at the point I'm scared to talk to him about anything, because a simple e-mail response costs almost $50! When it came time to actually show up at court, I was left waiting for 30 minutes, just for an attorney I never met, and who didn't know the case, to show up.

Overall horrible experience. He was rude completely uninterested and pushed my case off to another attorney in the office. She was completely unprepared. I was assured financially the case wouldn’t cost much more than the retainer and then a couple months in was inundated with bills sometimes 3-4 different bills in a month. He refused to make payment arrangements that were within reason and ultimately ended up suing me. During that process they were dishonest and used my lack of legal knowledge and inability to hire an attorney to coerce me into doing what they wanted.

This guy spends most of his time sueing past clients. If you hire this guy he will take all your money, drop your case, then he will sue you. That is how he operates. Look him up on Iowa Courts Online. He is worthless in my opinion.
