Maschmeyer is the attorney for my father’s estate. The PR is my sister. Well Maschmeyer instructed the PR to cease all communication with me. He also refused to speak to me. As a result, I had to hire my own attorney. The estate was supervised. I thought by hiring my own atty he could speak to Maschmeyer and I could be updated on what was going on with my dad’s estate. Wrong!!! Maschmeyer refused to respond to my atty’s emails and phone calls. How unprofessional right?! I thought attorneys had a code of ethics they were supposed to follow. Well not this one!!! All I wanted was access to my father’s house to get the personal property that I wanted and more importantly for closure. It’s been 6 months since my father died and I still have yet to get access. He told the PR to change the locks on my father’s house before he even passed away. And she’s the only one that holds the key. Down and dirty if you ask me. Again he’s not an ethical or professional attorney to say the least. Beware!!!
My husband wouldn't turn in his financial statement and Mr. Maschmeyer wouldn't file a contempt of court against him. He said he is only 9 days late filing it. He was afraid of my husband's attorney Jim Sargent (now deceased). When I told him my husband's attorney was Mr.Sargent he said "oh, no not Jim Sargent". Not a good attorney.
I retained Mr. Maschmeyer to represent me for hearing back in Indiana. Once retained, he rarely returned my phone calls. Mr. Maschmeyers e-mails were brief and unprofessional. I called him 3 days in a row before my 'Johnson County phone in hearing' (where I could not hear a thing and told Mr. Maschmeyer this over and over).. He never called me back until 4 minutes before my hearing. He threw out a last minute settlement that I was not comfortable with nor could I hear the proceedings. I called him a couple weeks later and asked him why he never would return my calls or why his emails were so brief and informal. I asked him specifically if he had a problem with gay people or gay marriage (as this was key to my case) - Mr. Maschmeyer refused to answer my question. I asked him again about his views on gay rights, marriage and lifestyle and asked him again for an answer and again, he refused to answer my questions. Mr. Maschmeyer should have never taken my case. He knew about my relationship with my partner, a physician, of 12 years from our first phone call. I feel that my representation suffered because Mr. Maschmeyer saw me as and made me feel like a second class person not worthy of his time or efforts. And now, the results of hiring William Maschmeyer and his services have impacted the rest of my life in a very sad way.
I don't know about the Haggerty's, but my experience with Maschmeyer has been disappointing. He made me give him $500.00 dollars on my credit card to answer a general question. He never answered my one question! He said on a call that he put aside sometime to research a general knowledge question. At which time I told him to never mind the request. He charged my card $500.00 and wont return any calls or emails. this to me is the same as theft. He is not an honest person.
