It might be dropped to a 1st degree misdemeanor, for which the punishment is up to a year in the county jail. You need to get a private criminal defense attorney for this matter.

What is the punishment for four counts of burglary and grand theft?

Answered by attorney Harley Ives Gutin
Criminal Law lawyer at Gutin Wolverton
He needs a lawyer. Burglary to a store should be a Third Degree Felony which means he is exposed to up to five years in prison (Burglary to a house is a Second Degree Felony with a fifteen year exposure). Typically on a first time offense on this charge the defendant, if guilty, should be looking at probation or house arrest and maybe some jail time.

Your attorney telling you that you will not win at trial is not a valid ineffective assistance of counsel usually. If you do not like the pd you have, hire an attorney privately.
