Do I have a conviction if I was charged with petty theft, I pled guilty then case dismissed?

You need to go see the county clerk of court and find out if adjudication was withheld or if you were convicted. If you were not convicted, the answer to have you ever been convicted of a crime is NO.

HOW TO CHECK SOMETHING ON MY RECORD

Answered by attorney Patrick Short
Criminal Law lawyer at Law Firm of Patrick Short
Get a copy of the judgment (the complete file would be better) from the court that it was adjudicated in.  It probably was a municipal court or a justice of the peace court in the city/county where it occurred.  Once you get that an attorney will be able to advise you of what is best to do.  There are certain situations that can be expunged for Class "C" misdemeanors.  Good luck, patrick short
