Answered by attorney Dan Eugene Chambers (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Chambers Law Firm, P.C.
It means that the prosecutor is changing the charging document. What you describe might be a material change that would require a formal motion to amend the information. You should consult an attorney or talk to your current attorney about your options.

How does a misdemeanor get expunged?

Answered by attorney Andrea Rogers (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at The Rogers Law Firm
You have to file a pleading in court to request that it be expunged. You don't have to hire an attorney to do this for you, but I highly recommend it. Only a few types of misdemeanors qualify for expungement, and only after 10 years of good behavior.

What are the chances of getting the case dismissed?

Answered by attorney John Wood Bussman (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at The Law Offices of John W. Bussman
It's impossible to accurately predict the chances of having a case dismissed without thoroughly reviewing the strength of the evidence against your fiance. Be extremely wary of any attorney who makes predictions or guarantees; they can't possibly know what they're talking about if they haven't received any of the evidence in your case. Contact an experienced criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. Don't discuss the case with anyone except your attorney.
