I’m in El Paso jail for criminal trespass since Jan 19 and supposedly my fine is $5000 how long do I have in jail?

Answered by attorney Mark R. Thiessen

Until you resolve your case. Chances are you have already served all the time. Can't a court appointed attorney just plead you to time served. Or hire an attorney to get you out. Maybe you have an immigration hold or something.

I am charged with -aggravated assault w/deadly weapon.. Where do I stand? What should I discuss with my lawyer to help my case? Thank you in advance

You need to get an examining trial if you are not too late. A presentation to the Grand Jury may be useful. Your attorney should communicate with the District Attorney. You are a witness and should not be a defendant. Tell your lawyer everything and don't wait. The process becomes more complicated and expensive as time goes by. If there is time, much can be done to help. My experience with cases of the type you have is that very good results are possible without extreme cost if my clients come in quickly and tell me the truth. It is even possible to use a polygraph to advantage early in the case before it is indicted.

What can I do for my boyfriend who has drug charges and is on probation?

Research for a lawyer by checking AVVO.com for the county in which he is charged. You can also google criminal defense lawyer and the county. Be aware that websites are not written by the lawyers but by website companies so don't be overly impressed by the fact that the lawyer spent a lot of money on the website. What is more important is what clients think of the lawyer (which you can find on AVVO - lawyers cannot control what clients post there but they do control what is on their own website) and how you feel when you talk with the lawyer. Does the lawyer take the time to talk to you? Does the lawyer seem knowledgeable? etc.
