Am I facing possible jail time?

A violation of probation always risks jail time, but years without a further case helps. Did you ask the old lawyer why he didn't notify you? I would explore this first. Second, you will probably need another lawyer to see you through the violation.

The only thing you can do is answer to the warrant, that is, show up in Michigan and deal with it. I would contact a lawyer and determine just what the warrant is for, evalute the facts to determine the liklihood of conviction, and to evaluate what a potential sentence might be and to negotiate a voluntary surrender with the authorities in Michigan.   Tom Stotz 586-465-4198

What can we do to avoid a statutory rape charge?

The age if consent for sexual intercourse in California is 18. Having sexual intercourse with a minor who is more than three years younger than you is a felony. Marriage does not retroactively effect the crime. You should know, however, that any prosecutor and any judge would look more fondly on you if you got married and showed responsibility.
