How long does a police officer have to submit evidence for a prosecutors review to see if charges are to be filed?

Answered by attorney John Wood Bussman (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at The Law Offices of John W. Bussman
The statute of limitations depends on the crime charged (usually 1 year for misdemeanors, several years for felonies). It is typical for police to investigate a case for several months before submitted their evidence to the DA for filing of charges. Talk to an attorney about whether or not a prosecutorial delay could form the basis of a possible defense.

How long after a drug offence can cops bring charges against you?

Answered by attorney Lawrence Thomas Lewis (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Lawrence Lewis, P.C.
They can arrest you anytime up to the statute of limitations periods (4 years). Folks are usually arrested at the time of the offense, but IF police are looking to sting people it may be 4-6 months later that the person selling drugs may be arrested.

How can they get off from an assault charge when the shooters family wrote statements saying that my fiancé was shooting?

Answered by attorney Terry Alan Nelson (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Nelson & Lawless
How can they? You can speculate better than me, at least you know what happened in the trial that got him convicted. Since he is already convicted, it doesn't matter how, unless the conduct of the trial provides him grounds for an appeal.
