What can I do to get somebody out of jail and I don't have the money to do so?

Jail break? In all seriousness getting bailed out is the way that 99 percent of people get out pending trial. The other 1 percent are released by the judge on their own recognizance (O.R.). You can write a letter of good character and give it to his lawyer. It might help.

If there is a probation violation hold, why would he have a bond too?

Jared Clayton Austin
Answered by attorney Jared Clayton Austin (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Austin Legal Services, PLC
It's hard to say what is normal because a lot of factors go into determining bond. For instance, is he from the area, is he currently working, does he have family in the area, has he failed to appear at court before? There are other factors that may indicate he would be a risk for not showing up. If you feel the amount is too high or you cannot pay it, you can always make a motion to the judge to reduce it. Make sure he is represented by an experienced criminal attorney in the area that handles probation violations.

Is it good for my 17-year-old son to demand a trial?

Your question requires an attorney consultation. It is not a simple question that can be answered on this type of forum. There are many factors that would need to be considered and evaluated. Since we do not have all the facts, it is impossible to give a completely accurate answers. What is he being charged with? What evidence does the State have against him? Does he have any defenses to the charges? I strongly suggest that you contact an experienced criminal defense attorney for a face-to-face consultation and give him/her all of the facts surrounding your son's case. (S)he would then be in a better position to analyze his case and advise you of his options.
