How long the civil order of protection is in effect and can it be cancelled in the future if the case is dropped?

Answered by attorney Terry Alan Nelson (Unclaimed Profile)

You'll have to read the court order to know the details like duration, nobody here can guess, other than that it is likely to be permanent and subject to modification by court order. To cancel would require a motion in court based upon good cause showing why it is not needed.

Can I miss a court date if I pay the fine?

Answered by attorney Mark R. Thiessen
Criminal Law lawyer at Thiessen Law Firm
Not usually. Maybe a lawyer can make this happen, but not usual for anything over a Class C misdemeanor.

What can I do to remove or modify a no contact order?

If the no contact provision is a term of bond or a term of someone's probation, you would need to appear in front of the judge and make a request for the provision to be eliminated.
