What do I do about filing a false police report when there was an actual crime that needs to be followed up on?

Answered by attorney Mark Arneson
Criminal Law lawyer at Arneson & Geffen PLLC
Filing a False Police report is a Gross Misdemeanor in MN. His best bet is to retain an Attorney to represent him and try to reduce the sanctions.

How can an inmate go about getting his cases to run concurrent instead of consecutive?

Answered by attorney Stephen Lewis Freeborn (Unclaimed Profile)

He has already done the only thing he can.... ask the sentencing judge. If the judge says "no", that is it, as the judge has sole discretion. The only way to appeal the judge's sentence would be if the person were sentenced outside the range, and even then, the chance of success is minimal at best.. Concurrent sentence v. consecutive sentence is not an issue that is subject to challenge.

How to find apartment as a felon?

Russell Thomas Kirshy
Answered by attorney Russell Thomas Kirshy (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Russell T. Kirshy Attorney at Law
I don't know how to get an apartment manager to let you rent an apartment.  However, there are a few things that might make the situation better.  If you have finished all of your sanctions, you may be able to file a motion to request that the court terminate your probation early.  If the judge says yes, since you are a first time felon, you may qualify to get your record sealed.  In any event, you should talk to an attorney about both options.  If your Grant Theft case arose in Lee, Charlotte, Hendry, Desoto, Sarasota or Manatee counties, you can call me and I will be happy to discuss it with you.
