If I'm 19 and my boyfriend is 16, is it okay for us to be together?

Answered by attorney Stephen Lewis Freeborn (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Freeborn Law Offices P.S.
You can be any age and be "together" and it is not against the law. However, you have left out a very important part of the question. By being "together", do you mean that you and your boyfriend and engaging in sexual relations? If so, then, it is against the law. He could be charged with statutory rape, even if you consent.

An electric company fail to install proper circuit needed to prevent electrical surges in a swimming pool light, which cause a death of a guest.

Answered by attorney Patrick Short
Criminal Law lawyer at Law Firm of Patrick Short
I had a case in another state that was similiar when a septic system was not installed correctly causing an electrical short and fire and killing an occupant of the home.  I represented the children of the decendent and the surviving spouse.  In order to understand the case a lawyer would need to interview the various witnesses and the decendent's family to determine how and if they could help. I would recommend that the decedent's family contact an attorney who deals in these types of cases in order to determine if they can help the family from a legal perspective for their loss of their loved one.  There are rules about when a case must be brought or you lose the right to do so.  I would encourage you to contact an attorney and schedule an appointment.  Typically, attorneys in this type of case do a free consultation.  I'm sorry for your loss.

Waived my right to appeal with plea bargain but still feel my case should be heard or possibility of civil suit against police

Richard Keith Oliver
Answered by attorney Richard Keith Oliver (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at The Law Office of Rick Oliver
In my opinion, your best bet is to consult with an attorney about the potential for success if you file and pursue a writ of habeas corpus. Typically, these cases will involve two fees: (1) a fee to pay for an investigation into the case to determine whether a colorable issue exists that would support the filing of a writ; and (2) the fee for the writ and the hearing. There are some additional steps in the process if you choose to appeal it further up the appellate ladder. It's an expensive remedy to pursue, but it's probably your only option at this point, in my opinion.
