What can I do if my lawyer fails to communicate with me?

Jared Clayton Austin
Answered by attorney Jared Clayton Austin (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Austin Legal Services, PLC
If this is a lawyer you hired, you can always fire her and get another lawyer. If this lawyer is appointed, you can write a letter to the judge, threaten to file a grievance with the state bar against them, or have someone look to hire a different lawyer for you. A lawyer needs to regularly communicate with his client.

What happens if I am caught with possession of drugs?

Answered by attorney Stephen Lewis Freeborn (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Freeborn Law Offices P.S.
Sounds very serious if the police are talking felony. What kind of things did they take from your home? Scales?... large sums of cash? These kinds of thinds would lead the police to believe that you may have been selling. If so this could enhance the charges against you. You really need to meet with an attorney, who could possibly be proactive and maybe do something about getting the charges reduced or dealt. Consult with an attorney.

Can I get a license suspension for driving without a seatbelt?

Answered by attorney Terry Alan Nelson (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Nelson & Lawless
Yes. Apparently you did already for earlier convictions, and may be facing another for the ticket you got bringing your point count over the limit. My earlier answer still applies: contact DMV to determine what they say you can do to get relicensed. Since you have a hearing coming up, you can ask then. If it is the conference regarding negligent operator suspension, you need to present whatever you have to show out of the ordinary need for your license not to be suspended.
