You should retain a lawyer and have your lawyer speak to the detective. You should not post anything about your situation on the internet.

Your question requires an attorney consultation. It is not a simple question that can be answered on this type of forum. There are many factors that would need to be considered and evaluated. The short answer is that he may be looking at federal charges for transportation and sale. I strongly suggest that he contact an experienced criminal defense attorney for a face-to-face consultation and give him/her all of the facts surrounding his situation. (S)he would then be in a better position to analyze his case and advise him of his options.

Why are sex offender laws not a violation of ex post facto?

Answered by attorney Dennis Julian Roberts (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Dennis Roberts A Professional Corporation
What are you talking about. Ex post facto means a prosecution of a new law on a case that took place before the new law. ie. you molest a child - there is no law prohibiting that conduct - then the legislature decides to pass a statute prohibiting child molestation. That's ex post facto.
