Can I own a registered gun although my husband is a convicted felon of drug possession?

Answered by attorney Mark R. Thiessen
Criminal Law lawyer at Thiessen Law Firm
You can own a gun, but he cannot. And it's a very fine line if a gun is in the house. Better to be safe than sorry because he could get in a lot of trouble as a felon in possession of a weapon. But ultimately your decision.

It depends upon how you are charged, the statute you are charged with violating, and what it says. This could be a life felony and could be an imprisonment for up to 30 years.

Depends on the charge and the factors underlying the case. The judge will want assurance that you have learned your lesson and it is highly unlikely you will do this again. Hope you have the right names of the people / agencies to notify.
