About Alexis Austin Litle

Alexis Austin Litle

is a distinguished Colorado criminal defense attorney and the founder of Right Law Group. With a practice built on more than a decade of intensive courtroom experience as a former Deputy District Attorney, she brings an exceptional depth of strategic insight to the defense of individuals and families facing serious criminal allegations across the Colorado Front Range.

A Proven Record Forged in the Prosecutor's Office

Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Austin Litle served with distinction as a Deputy District Attorney, where she was entrusted with the state's most serious and complex cases. Her prosecutorial career culminated in two of the most demanding roles in the justice system:

Chief of the Domestic Violence Unit: In this leadership position, Ms. Austin Litle supervised a team of prosecutors and was responsible for the vertical prosecution of all felony and misdemeanor domestic violence cases within the jurisdiction. She developed prosecution strategies, trained law enforcement, and handled a high-volume, high-conflict caseload, giving her an unparalleled understanding of the evidentiary and procedural nuances of domestic violence litigation.

Homicide Unit Prosecutor: Selected for her formidable trial skills, Ms. Austin Litle was a member of the elite Homicide Unit. She was responsible for prosecuting first-degree murder, vehicular homicide, and other complex violent felonies from investigation through trial. This experience honed her ability to dissect intricate fact patterns, challenge forensic evidence, and navigate the highest-stakes litigation possible.

Across her career, Ms. Austin Litle has personally handled over 3,000 criminal cases, managing dockets with more than 700 active cases at a time. This background provides her clients with a decisive advantage, as she possesses an insider's knowledge of how law enforcement and district attorneys build cases and, more importantly, where their arguments are most vulnerable to challenge.

Multi-Jurisdictional Experience

Ms. Austin Litle's prosecutorial work spanned multiple major Colorado jurisdictions, including the 4th Judicial District (El Paso and Teller Counties) and the 10th Judicial District (Pueblo County), complemented by extensive experience with the 18th Judicial District (Arapahoe and Douglas Counties). This broad geographic and procedural knowledge makes her a valuable asset for clients and referring attorneys with matters pending in the courts of Colorado Springs, Denver, Castle Rock, and the surrounding communities.

Firm Philosophy and Approach

In 2018, Ms. Austin Litle founded Right Law Group to provide a different kind of criminal defense, one that pairs an aggressive, trial-ready posture with a client-centered, trauma-informed methodology. The firm is exclusively dedicated to criminal defense, with a focus on DUI/DWAI, domestic violence, felonies, and other serious criminal matters. Drawing on her dual bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Philosophy, Ms. Austin Litle has cultivated a practice that recognizes the human element at the center of every case. She is particularly adept at representing clients with PTSD, mental health challenges, and those who are navigating the justice system for the first time, ensuring their stories are communicated with clarity and impact.

Alexis has built a reputation for taking on cases that other attorneys consider unwinnable,
delivering results that protect her clients' freedom, careers,
futures. The following cases reflect the depth
range of her criminal defense practice across Colorado.Acquittal at Trial: Wildlife Charge — Bear Shooting in Defense of PropertyWhen a medical professional was prosecuted for shooting a bear that had entered his backyard
was attacking his puppies, Alexis took the case to trial after the prosecution refused to offer a reasonable resolution. Facing up to 18 months in jail
the permanent loss of his firearms rights — consequences that would have ended his career — her client needed a complete victory, not a compromise. Alexis retained expert witnesses to speak to bear behavior
the objective threat posed to the animals,
conducted a thorough cross-examination of the state's witnesses that exposed the weakness of the government's position. The jury returned a not guilty verdict on all charges,
    the case was subsequently dismissed
sealed.Attempted Murder Reduced to Probation — Drug Deal ShootingAlexis represented a client charged with attempted murder following a shootout in a residential neighborhood during an alleged drug transaction gone wrong. The charge carried a potential sentence of 48 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections. Over the course of the representation, she filed multiple suppression motions, reviewed hundreds of hours of body-worn camera footage,
conducted an independent investigation into the circumstances of the incident. Through persistent advocacy
thorough preparation, she negotiated the charge down to a lower-level felony with two years of unsupervised probation — no prison time,
no disruption to her client's employment, which required him to travel nationally to support his family.Felony Menacing
Attempted Assault Dismissed — Mountain Road Rage
After a confrontation while off-roading in the Colorado mountains, Alexis's client found himself charged with felony menacing
attempted assault. The other party had attempted to run him over,
when he displayed his firearm in response, they accused him of threatening them. Alexis investigated the incident independently, gathered evidence establishing that the opposing party was the aggressor,
presented a comprehensive self-defense argument directly to the District Attorney. The prosecution agreed,
    all charges were dismissed
sealed without the case ever proceeding to a hearing.DUI Actual Physical Control Dismissed — Client Was Waiting for a RideAlexis secured a complete dismissal for a client charged with DUI for being in actual physical control of a vehicle while parked in a grocery store parking lot during the p
emic. The client had been sitting in his car drinking with no intention of driving,
had already requested an Uber before law enforcement arrived. Alexis presented the Uber records as evidence
argued that the client's conduct did not satisfy the legal st
ard for actual physical control under Colorado law. The District Attorney agreed,
    the case was dismissed
sealed entirely.Felony Vehicular Assault Reduced to a Traffic InfractionAlexis represented a client who had been charged with felony vehicular assault connected to a DUI after a serious accident on a mountain road. The client had turned left to exit the highway
was struck by oncoming traffic, sustaining serious injuries herself. The defense team filed motions to suppress evidence, challenged the probable cause underlying the charges,
identified a Brady violation — the prosecution had failed to disclose exculpatory evidence. By setting the case for trial
    aggressively litigating every procedural
constitutional issue, the defense secured a resolution to a careless driving traffic infraction. The client received no jail time
no felony conviction.Veteran's Attempted Homicide Charges Dismissed — PTSD Mitigation DefenseAmong the most consequential cases of Alexis's career, this matter involved a decorated combat veteran who had served multiple tours of duty
was suffering from severe, untreated PTSD after the VA repeatedly failed to provide him care. In a moment of crisis, he attempted to take his own life by vehicle, resulting in charges of attempted homicide
vehicular assault — offenses carrying a combined potential sentence of 16 to 48 years. A conviction would also have stripped him of his VA benefits, leaving his wife
young daughter without support. The alleged victims were federally involved
    were dem
ing prison time.Drawing on her academic background in psychology, Alexis built an exhaustive mitigation package that included expert reports, military service records,
documented evidence of the VA's failure to treat her client's condition. She reframed the case not as a criminal act, but as a desperate call for help from a veteran ab
oned by the system he had served. After intensive
protracted negotiations with the District Attorney — pushing back against significant victim pressure — she secured a deferred sentence. Her client completed every requirement,
    the case was fully dismissed
sealed. His VA benefits were preserved, his family remained intact,
he has since become a mentor to other veterans navigating the criminal justice system.
