About Thomas C. Nuovo

Tom was born and raised in Middlebury, Vermont, and attended Middlebury College. After college, Tom joined the Peace Corps and served for two years in Cameroon, West Africa as a mathematics teacher. After his return to the United States, he began working for the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., as a management analyst.

After two years in Washington, Tom came back to Vermont to attend Vermont Law School where he graduated cum laude. Tom was admitted to the Vermont Bar in 1993 and also has been admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Vermont, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Tom has argued numerous cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Vermont Supreme Court, and has served as an Acting Judge and Magistrate in Chittenden, Franklin and Lamoille counties.

Tom's practice is concentrated mostly to civil litigation with a focus on employment law, wrongful termination, personal injury, and real property dispute law. He also represents parties in domestic matters. Three decisions of specific importance are 985 Associates, Ltd. vs Daewoo, 2008 VT 14, Payne vs US Airways, 2007 VT 90, and A.B. v. S.U., 2023 VT 32.

Tom enjoys running, backpacking, kayaking, skiing, snowshoeing, and taking long walks with his family and yellow Labrador, Bo (Puplick Relations).
