Frances Cain-Lofton, originally from Abbeville, South Carolina, graduated from the College of Charleston in 1979. Mrs. Lofton received her Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina in 1983 and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar that same year.

Mrs. Lofton worked as an Assistant Solicitor in Charleston County from 1983 to 1984 before joining the Law Offices of Lionel S. Lofton in 1984. She practices personal injury and probate law and also serves as a Charleston County Summary Court Judge in McClellanville, South Carolina.

Mrs. Lofton is very active in the community having served on The Cougar Club Board at the College of Charleston and also the Board of Directors of Palmetto Christian Academy, as well as serving as Chairperson of the Palmetto Christian Academy Booster Club.
