• Intellectual Property - Trademarks and Domain Name
SLA assists Clients during the entire trademark registration process. Our practice also includes the restitution of domain names to their rightful owners. The partners are experienced trademark litigators, and handle a large litigation portfolio in representation of a variety of local and foreign Clients. SLA Attorneys have successfully negotiated and settled dozens of oppositions to trademark registrations, on behalf of large international companies, such as Westbridge Agricultural Products (California, US), among others.
• Intellectual Property - Copyright
SLA assists many software, Internet, and entertainment companies in copyright matters. Our legal services include, without limitation, protecting, licensing, and transferring copyrights, locally and internationally. We register copyrights and represent Clients in complex litigation. The partners negotiated several agreements, and settled complex copyright disputes with large oil companies, such as Chevron and Pan American Energy.
• Intellectual Property - Patents, Utility Models, Industrial Models and Designs
Sanchez, Lupi & Associates advises local and foreign Clients on patentability of inventions, conduct extensive patent availability searches in Argentina and other countries, and prosecute patents, utility models, industrial models and designs. We have significant experience in preparing and prosecuting patents of electronic products.
• Technology - Internet -- Software
The technology, Internet, and software practice areas are probably the strongest at SLA. During more than twelve years, the partners of SLA have been assisting many technology companies, some of them listed Fortune 500, such as Yahoo! and Microsoft. SLA has also been retained to negotiate complex software license agreements for the oil industry, among others. SLA Attorneys negotiate and draft sophisticated technology agreements, such as license, franchise, technical assistance, outsourcing, technology transfer, distribution and sales, new content distribution platforms, SaaS agreements, among others. Furthermore, we provide legal assistance with e-commerce matters, and represent Clients during litigation. During many years SLA was outside counsel on international intellectual property of the Argentine Chamber of Information Technology Companies (CESSI), and currently is member of the Argentine Chamber of Electronic Commerce (CACE).
• Business and Corporate
SLA has been retained by local and foreign Clients to negotiate and draft sophisticated business and corporate agreements, and to render legal advice on corporate formation and governance, bankruptcy, commercial instruments, insurance and bonds, among other legal matters. SLA attorneys are experienced litigators and transactional counsel. The partners acted as lead corporate counsel during the international start-up of Blogz Inc., an affiliate of Antarctica Films Inc. (Miami, FL, USA), incorporated several software factories on behalf of U.S. and European companies, such as Velocity Partners LLC (Seattle, WA, USA), among others, and handled most of their business and corporate matters. The partners of the Firm specialize in domestic corporate law, as well as corporate regulations applicable to foreign companies doing business in Argentina.
• Civil
SLA attorneys render legal advice and litigate sophisticated civil law cases, including without limitation, complex breach of contract cases, non-contractual disputes, negligence, family and wills, legal nullities, and a variety of other civil law matters, on behalf of local and foreign Clients. The partners are expert civil law litigators, and currently represent at court a large number of local, U.S., and Latin American clients.
• International Trade and Customs
International trade and customs has become highly regulated areas in Argentina. SLA assists many local and foreign companies, such as Navayo Technologies (Germany) and its distributors, with respect to foreign trade regulations and procedures, and all available alternatives to a particular import/export operation.
• Labor
SLA's partners have significant labor law experience, negotiating and drafting agreements, hiring and terminating employees and union leaders, representing Clients during mandatory conciliation proceedings, and labor litigation, among other matters. We assist and represent at court a variety of technology, agricultural, and food companies.
• Litigation
Litigation is one of SLA's strongest practice areas. The partners of the Firm are expert litigators, whom started their legal careers almost two decades ago in Argentina as high ranked public officials at the federal justice, and the federal ministry of economy. During many years, the partners handled dozens of international lawsuits in Latin America on behalf of the American software and Internet industries. Currently, SLA has been retained by local and foreign Clients, such as Westbridge Agricultural Products (California, US), Sofape (Brazil) among others, to represent them in a large number of civil, commercial and intellectual property law cases, mostly in the City of Buenos Aires.
