With almost 30 years of “lawyering” under her belt, Ms. Shimer continues to specialize in estate planning and probate. In 2012 she became a Certified Mediator, adding alternative dispute resolution to her practice, with an emphasis on family law and probate.

Ms. Shimer is a member of Colorado Bar Association, Boulder Bar Association, and several other professional associations. She obtained her Bachelor of Art degree in English Literature (1988) and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado, Boulder (1996). She is a certified life coach and in 2023 became a certified Compassionate Inquiry facilitator. She is well versed in Nonviolent Communication and other modalities to help her clients cut through the distractions and get to the essence of their legal needs.
Ms. Shimer resides in the mountains above Boulder, Colorado. She helps run a nonprofit meditation center and has been teaching meditation and yoga for 20-plus years. Her favorite downtime is spent taking long hikes in the mountains with her yellow lab Ben.
