Ms. Higgins is a trial attorney whose practice is concentrated in business litigation and professional and product liability defense. Ms. Higgins also counsels clients on insurance coverage matters.
Throughout her career, Ms. Higgins' work has been recognized by her peers, as well as the community at large. Ms. Higgins was selected as one of the "Top 50 Women Lawyers in New England and Massachusetts" by the publishers of Boston Magazine in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016. She was also named a "Top 100 Lawyer in Massachusetts" in 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2016. In addition, Ms. Higgins has received an AV Peer Review Rating in The Martindale-Hubbell Lawyers Directory. Finally, in both 2016 and 2017 Ms. Higgins was listed as a "Best Lawyer in America", a title bestowed on a small number of attorneys each year.
She has tried jury and non-jury cases in state and federal court, and also has represented clients before numerous state and federal agencies. Ms. Higgins also represents attorneys in disciplinary proceedings commenced by the Board of Bar Overseers. She is the Co-Chair of the firm's Professional Liability Practice Group, and a former Co-Chair of the Boston Bar Association's Professional Liability Committee. She is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel.
Ms. Higgins is a member of the Supreme Judicial Court Standing Advisory Committee on the Rules of Professional Conduct and the Supreme Judicial Court Standing Committee of Pro Bono Legal Services. She is the Chair of the Boston Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service Review Committee. She also is a Board Member and former President of the Women's Bar Foundation, which runs five different pro bono legal services programs in Massachusetts. Ms. Higgins chairs the Pro Bono Committee at the firm and serves as the firm's Risk Management partner.
