We hired Attorney Karp for a group franchise arbitration case. Several promises or commitments were made such as weekly update conference calls that were not delivered. The billings far exceed the high end of his estimate. We strongly argued against a legal strategy that he insisted on at which point he suggested we find another attorney. That was in the middle of the case which would have made it cost prohibitive to do so. Our position against the legal strategy turned out to be the correct one. We also pointed out a legal argument against enforcement of the future royalty claim. He dismissed our legal argument with great confidence. Later, another attorney argued our legal point in court and the judge agreed that the future royalty claim is unenforceable due to the wording of the franchise agreement. Also, we had an agreed to formula for division of settlement proceeds that was clearly spelled out in the fee agreement. He refused to pay out according to the formula.
