Gina joined Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP in 2020 and is an Associate in our Binghamton and Cortland offices. Her practice is concentrated in the areas of public law, litigation, and landlord-tenant law.
As a member of the firm's Public Law Practice Group, Gina regularly advises various town, village, and city boards, as well as school districts and public housing authorities. Her representation often includes guidance on the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), the Open Meetings Law (OML), the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR), local and state code enforcement, property maintenance and enforcement litigation, and various other legal topics relating to municipal operations.
Gina also focuses her practice on landlord-tenant law, with her representation concentrated on assisting large and small residential and commercial landlords, property managers, and property owners. Gina regularly represents clients in local town, village, and city courts for eviction and other litigation and provides regular guidance on a variety of legal issues, including Section 8 and HUD housing requirements, lease drafting, compliance with state and local housing regulations, and a variety of other landlord-tenant legal matters.
Gina is a member of the New York State Bar Association and serves as an Alternate Delegate for the House of Delegates. She is also a member of the Broome County Bar Association and serves as the Treasurer of the Broome County Bar Association Board.
Prior to joining Coughlin & Gerhart full-time, Gina worked as a summer associate with the firm in 2019. Gina graduated magna cum laude from the University at Buffalo School of Law in 2020. She is also active in the community and volunteers as a member of the Board of Managers for Gigi's Playhouse of the Southern Tier, NY and Metro Interfaith Housing Management Corp., and acts as an attorney coach for the local high school mock trial program.
