About Emily H. Folio

Ms. Folio (formerly known as Ms. Hobbins) joined Hostetter Strent in December of 2011 having practiced family law throughout the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia since 2008. Ms. Folio has represented clients in all aspects of family law litigation, including contested divorce proceedings, child custody and child support hearings, and property distribution and spousal support hearings. Ms. Folio also has substantial training and experience in representing clients in collaborative divorce as well as mediation.

Ms. Folio earned her Juris Doctorate from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2007 and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, summa cum laude, from the University of California at Davis in 2003. While in law school, Ms. Folio excelled in family law studies and received the Witkin Award and the CALI Award for her accomplishments in Family Law Trial Practice and Family Law. As a law clerk for the Center for Families, Children, and the Courts, a branch of the Judicial Council of California, Ms. Folio worked directly with the Honorable Leonard P. Edwards and conducted research on the role of mediation in family law and the importance of alternatives to litigation.

Ms. Folio was named a Rising Star by Maryland Super Lawyers Magazine in 2013, Baltimore Magazine's 2013 Top Attorneys (Maryland's Outstanding Young Lawyers), and was selected to be a member of the Inaugural Class of Montgomery County's Bar Association's Leadership Academy.

Ms. Folio joined Hostetter Strent to aid fractured families and help mothers, fathers, and children as they transition to the next phase in their family.
